Anzac Day in Palmerston North

Anzac Day occurs on 25 April. The day is very important to commemorate all New Zealanders killed in war and also honours returned servicemen and women. Thousands lost their lives in the Gallipoli campaign, including 2779 New Zealanders. Anzac Day was first marked in 1916. Since then, the ceremonies are held at war memorials up and down New Zealand, or in places overseas where New Zealanders gather (credit to nzhistory).

In Palmerston North, a dawn service to commemorate the contribution and sacrifice of Anzac soldiers in the Great War is held on 25 April every year. We can also find a special corner of Anzac Day in Massey library. There, we can gain valuable information and knowledge about this important day.
